今日は私の大好きなHymn(聖歌)のうちの１つ、His eye is on the sparrowをお届けします。(ちなみに写真はsparrowではなく、巣づくりに励むswallowです。)
この曲は、神様は小さな雀すらちゃんと見ていて守っていてくださるんだから、私のこともちゃんと見ていてくださっている、という神様に対する感謝とその喜びをあらわした歌です。私はロンドンでクリスチャンになったばかりのときに、繰り返しの部分の" I sing because I'm happy" というところだけあるゴスペル歌手が歌うのを聞いて、心打たれました。

＜意訳＞
イエス様がいつも友達としてずっとそばにいてくれているのだから、暗くなったり、がっかりしたり、１人で寂しいとおもったりすることはない。「心を悩ませていないで、神様の栄光のなかに休まりなさい」そういうイエス様の声を聞いて疑いや畏れが消えていく。私の１歩１歩を神様は導いて下さる。いつでもわたしが誘惑されたり、暗雲がたちこめて歌がため息に変わり、希望を失いそうになっても、神様に近づくとその優しさで私を自由に解放してくださる。神様の目は小さな雀にもとまっているのだから、私のこともいつでも見ていてくださる。私は喜びのなかで歌う、私は自由なので歌う。神様の目は雀にもとまっているのだから、私を見ていてくださると知っているから。
今朝は6月30日ということで(アメリカ時間)詩編の３０を読んでいました。御手元に聖書がある人は、是非よんでください。神様の守って下さるありたがさや、その救いの御心に対する感謝がよくあらわされたダビデ王による賛歌です。
詩編30
主よ、あなたをあがめます。あなたは敵を喜ばせることなく わたしを引き上げてくださいました。私の神、主よ、叫びもとめる私をあなたは癒してくださいました。主よ、あなたはわたしの魂を陰府から引き上げ 墓穴に下ることを免れさせ わたしに命を与えてくださいました。
I will extrol thee, O Lord; for thou hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
主の慈しみに生きる人々よ 主に賛美の歌を歌い 聖なる御名を唱え、感謝をささげよ。ひととき、お怒りになっても 命を得させることを御旨としてくださる。泣きながら夜を過ごす人にも 喜びの歌と共に朝を迎えさせてくださる。
Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
平穏な時には、申しました。「わたしはとこしえに揺らぐことがない」と。主よ、あなたが御旨によって砦の山に立たせて下さったからです。しかし、御顔を隠されるとわたしはたちまち恐怖に陥りました。主よ、わたしはあなたを呼びます。主に憐れみを乞います。私が死んで墓に下ることに何の益があるでしょう。塵があなたに感謝をささげあなたのまことを告げしらせるでしょうか。主よ、耳を傾け、憐れんでください。主よ、私の助けとなってください。
And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved. Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled. I cried unto thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declare thy truth? あなたはわたしの嘆きを踊りに変え 粗布を脱がせ、喜びを帯としてくださいました。わたしの魂があなたを誉め歌い 沈黙することのないようにしてくださいました。私の神、主よ とこしえにあなたに感謝をささげます。
Thou hast turned for me my mourning in to dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.
